Black and White Shooting Tips:

  • If your camera supports RAW, always shoot in RAW. RAW gives you the most control over your pictures.
  • If possible, shoot in the Lowest ISO. Never used AUTO ISO.
  • Focus on contrast

How I ended up with this final result:

  1. Using Lightroom. Choose the RAW file or image to process.
  2. Modify Treatment from Color to Grayscale. Lightroom has a dedicated tool in converting a color image to black-and-white, just use the Grayscale mixer to easily tweak the results.
  3. Adjusted Blacks to 11
  4. Adjusted Clarity to -25
  5. Adjusted Contrast to + 39
  6. Adjusted Darks to -17

100 Photographs That Changed the World
by Editors of Life Magazine
The power of pictures is celebrated in this portfolio of the most forceful still images of all time. Robert Capa’s dispatches from the beach at Normandy and Joe Rosenthal’s photographic report of Iwo Jima stirred a nation, as did-in quite an opposite way-Eddie Adams’ and Larry Burrows’ searing imagery from Vietnam.LIFE thinks outside the box in this book: Did Marilyn Monroe’s pinup change the world?Did Harry Benson’s photography of the Beatles deplaning in New York in 1964 alter our cultural focus? The pictures in this book are sometimes beautiful, often striking-and undeniably powerful.
